My Skyla...
Date Posted: April 14, 2020
I'd like to take a moment to share a personal struggle I am dealing with. On Saturday, my dog, Skyla, passed away! She was our 10 1/2 year old Mastiff mix. My husband and I got Skyla when she was about eight weeks old. She was my first dog. Skyla and I were especially close. When we lived in Las Vegas, my husband was often away due to deployments and military trips. She was my companion. Overs the years, she was there as we settled in Missouri and our family grew. I hope to honor her by making a work of art, but right now, I will need to brainstorm what that may be.... For now, here are two projects I did years ago inspired by my Skyla!

Fun with Zentangles!Date Posted: April 7, 2020
Zentangles are so much fun! They are drawings that appear "tangled up" and filled with detailed black and white designs and patterns. There are so many options to how you "make it your own." Often times, the patterns LOOK complicated, but breaking them down into steps makes it easy to make.

Drawerings: A Really Fun App
Date Posted: April 2, 2020
Radial balance is a type of balance where sections rotate and repeat around a central point. The central point of a radial design is called the point of symmetry. In the past, students in 7th grade art class have created radial designs on paper with colored pencils, markers, and/or paint. I found this great app called Drawerings that allows you to create radial designs digitally. These are fun to make and have beautiful results. You can alter your color choice, brush size, section number, and more. Drawerings can be done on their website and is also available as a FREE download on Apple and Android devices.

Chalk Drawing Tape ResistDate Posted: March 30th, 2020
Here is a great sunny day activity. This brings sidewalk chalk artwork to the next level! My daughter, Molly, and I created a tape-resist sidewalk chalk artwork. I saw this idea on the Internet and had to give it a try! It was a lot of fun.
